چکیده

Complementary hydrogen bonding acts efficiently at the air waterint erfacefor specific binding of aqueous guests. Thus, singlecomponent and mixed monolayers of double-chain peptide amphiphiles displays selective incorporation of water-soluble dipep tides via hydrophobic and hydrogen-bonding interaction into the specific cavities created at the polar peptide region of monolayers. An “induced fit” mechanism is conceivable for the generation of receptor sites in mixed monolayers. The hydrogen-bonding interaction is also applicable to the preparation of molecularly precise patterns on watef. The molecular arrangement in guanidinium and melamine monolayers is controlled through binding with polycarboxy lates and barbituric acid, respectively. A multi-functional guest like FAD can induce molecular patterns. Implications of these results are discussed.

Turbulent Events and Gas-Side Mass Transfer Coefficients in a Wavy Air-Water Stratified Flow

Turbulence structure on the gas side of a wavy stratified flow was experimentally investigated in a near horizontal 18.7 cm (H) 10 cm (W) 5.5m (L) rectangular duct.By applying the Variable Interval Time Averaging (VITA) technique to the hot wire anemometer measurements frequency of occurrence of turbulent events were detected near the air-water interface. Experimental results showed that fr...

Synthesis of Copper Hydroxide Nitrate (Cu2(OH)3NO3) Micro-Sheets by Plasma Electrolysis of Cu(NO3)2 Aqueous Solution in Atmospheric Air

In the present paper, using a cathodic pin-to-solution electrical discharge electrolysis setup, interaction of the atmospheric air plasma with aqueous solution of copper nitrate and its possibility for synthesis of nano-materials is investigated. An AC (50 Hz) high-voltage power supply (5 kV) with rectified current is used for electrical discharge of the air between a metal pin and the solution...

Modification of mesoporous silica SBA-15 with different organic molecules to gain chemical sensors: a review

The recognition of the biologically and environmentally important ions is of great interest in the field of chemical sensors in recent years. The fluorescent sensors as a powerful optical analytical technique for the detection of low level of various analytes such as anions and metal cations have been progressively developed due to the simplicity, cost effective, and selectivity for monitoring ...

Self-organization of discogenic molecules at the air-water interface

The behavior of several species of discogenic molecules at the air-water interface has been determined by measuring surface pressure vs. molecular area isotherms. Alkylthiotriphenylene derivatives do not appear to form monolayers at the interfaces, due to lack of amphiphilic character. Two truxene derivatives were found to display molecular areas on the order of 65 A2, most likely due to the mo...

Numerical investigation of upward air-water annular, slug and bubbly flow regimes

In this paper, numerical investigation of upward two phase flow of air-water has been studied. Different conditions of flow regimes including annular, wispy annular, slug, churn and bubbly are simulated based on Hewitt and Roberts map, and a good agreement between the experimental data of the map and the numerical simulation has been observed. Accordingly, a proper CFD model in CFD software of ...
